Three Silver and Bronze Medals for the University at the International HORECA Exhibition in Riyadh
The College of Tourism and Hospitality at King Khalid University, in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs, participated in the International HORECA Exhibition, held from November 25 to 27 at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center. The participation aimed to support and showcase the talents of tourism and hospitality students in the field of culinary arts.
The College's pavilion featured an immersive experience that comprehensively reflected the identity of the Asir region. A diverse selection of traditional dishes was presented with a contemporary touch, including an innovative version of Areekah called the "Areekah Waffle," along with hot and cold beverages reflecting the richness of Saudi heritage. The pavilion also offered visitors a distinctive experience by providing traditional Asir attire for them to wear and take commemorative photographs.
Male and female students participated in the Best International Chef Competition, judged by an international panel. The University won three bronze medals and one silver medal. Ms. Hanan Ahmed, a Teaching Assistant at the University's College of Culture and Arts, won a bronze medal in the Best Cold Sandwich Dish competition. Ahmed Fathi, a student at the College of Tourism and Hospitality, also won a bronze medal for his participation in the Best Cold and Hot Appetizer (Mezze) Dish competition. Student Raghad Al-Qahtani also received a bronze medal for her participation in the Best Cold and Hot Appetizer (Mezze) Dish competition. In addition, Chef Trainer Saif Al-Din Al-Dhawadi, one of the trainers of the College of Tourism and Hospitality students, won a silver medal in the Meat Dish Competition.
Commenting on the participation, Dr. Ali bin Misfer Al-Qahtani, Dean of Student Affairs at King Khalid University, explained that the University's participation reflects the support and empowerment it provides to its students in their participation and academic presence at such local and international events. He also praised the excellence, innovation, and creativity demonstrated by the students of the College of Tourism and Hospitality at the pavilion.
For her part, Dr. Reham Mashat, Dean of the College of Tourism and Hospitality at the University, explained that the College continues its journey toward excellence and innovation, consistently seeking to provide and enhance innovative educational programs in tourism and hospitality. She noted that this participation represents an important and positive step toward discovering and developing the talents of male and female students in line with the College's aspirations, which are founded on innovation and quality.
